The Auditory Outreach accepts referrals for consultation, assistance, or the loan of equipment from school/district administrators and implant centres in British Columbia. Requests for support are also accepted directly from parents.
School District Primary Contacts 2011-12 have been established in every school district in the province. These contacts allow program staff to communicate efficiently regarding referrals and on-going support needs in districts. At independent schools, unless otherwise indicated, the contact will be the school Principal.
Auditory Outreach adheres to the principle of informed consent; therefore, it is requested that parents be informed about the nature and extent of the Auditory Outreach involvement in individual students’ education programs. A
permission form indicating which agencies or individuals Auditory Outreach can exchange information with must be signed by the parent, or the student if over the age of 18, in order for Auditory Outreach to initiate or continue to provide services and equipment. Information such as recent audiograms and audiological reports are essential in order for Auditory Outreach to be able to provide the appropriate assistive listening devices and ongoing support needed by individual students.
