Visiting Groups

Upon request, the OLC is happy to arrange an adventure based wilderness program to suit your groups specific needs.

Haywire Bay Outdoor Learning Centre prides itself on providing the highest calibre of instruction and group processing and debriefing in all its activities.  The OLC Staff team have significant experience delivering fun, safe and innovative activity programming.

As with all of our program activity designs, we anchor the activity to a clear objective, consider all the program variables and then build a metaphor around it.  Many of our programs use human powered multi day journeys on water and land for this reason.

Free Time

Built into each day, of a custom OLC program free time is a structured way for students to pursue activities that they may wish to have more experience with. Typically our Instructors will post sign up for free time Activities.  For some students working on skills certification this is a great time to practice.

At the end of your stay each group’s instructors will debrief the experience with your students. Each of our team members have their own style, but the purpose is to encourage reflection of what was learnt and accomplished I each activity area.

Teacher Debrief

Communication with your school teaching staff is an integral part of shaping your experiential learning experience.  At periodic intervals throughout the experience and on the final day, our Director will meet with your staff to debrief the program and offer an intentional space.  A written report that provides a summation of next steps and action plan items to follow up on will be provided, as will any photos or videos, opportunity to suggest improvements etc…
