General Procedures

Reporting

An important area of your child's progress is the reporting process. We report your child's progress to you five times a year. We have two informal, and three formal reporting periods a year.

The Parent Teacher interviews in the Fall and the Student Led Conferences in the early Spring make up the informal reports.

The three written Report Cards in late Fall, Spring and the end of the school year constitute our formal reports.

In the Primary Grades (K through 3) achievement is indicated by a 4 point scale. Learning Outcomes are combined with an anecdotal comment and there is a section to indicate how the home and school can work together to assist learning.

In the Intermediate Grades (4, 5, 6, 7) achievement is indicated by letter grades, A, B, C+, C, C-, I, F, combined with an anecdotal comment and a section to indicate how the home and school can work together to assist learning.

We welcome your feedback and questions on your child's progress during reporting periods and at any other time.

Assemblies

Edgehill Elementary has a "Student Recognition" assembly on the First Wednesday of each month. Students who have been identified by their teachers as having done some particularly good work, or who have shown a good effort, are recognized and certificates are awarded. There is a different focus each month so that every child's learning strengths may be recognized throughout the year.

Parents are welcome to attend our Student Recognition Assemblies and will be informed if their children are receiving awards.

Supervision

Our school grounds are supervised Monday through Friday by teachers, SSA's and administrators:

Before school 8:23 a.m. to 8:38 a.m.
Recess 10:15 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Lunchtime 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
After school 2:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.

Just a reminder that students are unsupervised at all other times before and after school and our grounds are sometimes inhabited by bears and cougars. To ensure your child's safety we recommend that they arrive at school no earlier than 8:23 a.m. and leave by 2:45 p.m.

Lost And Found

We generally have an extensive collection of shirts, jackets, shoes, socks, and assorted items in our Lost and Found hamper.

Please label your children's clothing for ease in returning lost articles.
