The StrongStart Early Learning team is working hard to get our programs up and running after being closed for over a year. Henderson StrongStart will open and the StrongStart Outreach program with the ORCA Bus will start offering programming on Monday September 13th, 2021. The StrongStart Outreach program with the ORCA Bus will be outdoors to start the year, so dress both yourself and your children for the weather. Westview StrongStart and Edgehill StrongStart are expected to open on Monday September 20th, 2021. It is unknown when the StrongStart at Kelly Creek will open. Visit this site often for updates.

 The ORCA Bus

The ORCA Bus started making stops in rural areas around Powell River in February 2009. School District #47 has been involved in planning the innovative project since 2005. ORCA stands for “On the Road with Children’s Activities” – a mobile preschool activity bus designed to bring engaging preschool activities and resources to remote areas of the community. The bus is an initiative of the Powell River and District United Way in partnership with School District #47.  The bus provides space for all agencies to connect with young families. Consult the ORCA schedule to see what agency will be on-board.

The ORCA Bus schedule (including all agency programs) can be found at http://www.orcabuspr.ca/.
