Today is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia

IDAHOBIT (International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia) is observed annually on May 17th. IDAHOBIT aims to raise awareness about the discrimination faced by the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and promote their rights. The 2025 theme, "The power of communities," highlights the importance of community support and resilience.
Observing IDAHOBIT in classrooms is crucial for fostering inclusivity, safe spaces and supporting 2SLGBTQ+ students. Inclusivity and support can look like:
Wearing Pride: Wear pride or rainbow-themed items to show support.
Decorating: Decorate spaces with rainbows, flags, and other symbols of 2SLGBTQ+ pride.
Raising Awareness: Listen to the stories and perspectives of 2SLGBTQIA+ folx in your life. Discuss the history and purpose of IDAHOBIT in schools and workplaces.
Empowering: Equip students with the knowledge and understanding to challenge discrimination and promote acceptance.
Posting Online: Share information about IDAHOBIT on digital platforms.
Sharing Resources: Provide your students with access to support and resources designed to uplift and empower them. Students can visit this Get Help Page.
