Remembrance Day In Our Schools

Remembrance Day 2025

Schools across our district held assemblies today, both in person and online, honouring Remembrance Day (November 11th) and National Indigenous Veterans Day (November 8th), recognizing all those who courageously sacrificed for our freedom.

Each school paid tribute in its own way, including visits from Veterans and the opportunity to hear their stories, student poetry readings, and performances by school choirs. Students at Texada Elementary honoured these two important days on Friday November 7th, and visited a local cemetery to pay their respects to the fallen soldiers, followed by a visit to the Legion for a ceremony.

Today, we were reminded of the meaning behind the poppy and invited to reflect on what peace means in our own lives, in our classrooms, on the playground, and in our community. In honour of Remembrance Day and National Indigenous Veterans Day, and in recognition of all who bravely sacrificed for us, we remember them with respect and carry forward the values of peace, kindness, and gratitude.
