North Island Skills Canada Regionals 2026

Provincials

Students from Brooks Secondary as well as James Thomson and Westview Grade 7 classes recently had the opportunity to showcase their skills while representing qathet School District at the North Island Skills Canada Regionals 2026, hosted by Skills Canada BC at North Island College in Campbell River on February 20th.

Grade 7 and 8 students competed in Junior events, featuring Gravity Car and Spaghetti Bridge Building, while the Senior Brooks group, including VIU Dual Credit students, demonstrated their talents in Automotive, Cabinetmaking, Carpentry, and Culinary Arts.

The results just came in, and we’re thrilled to announce some BIG wins:

  • Finn Gow-Hignall earned 1st place in Culinary 
  • Dustin Wesley and Aidan Crawford placed 1st and 2nd in Carpentry
  • Ross Infanti placed 2nd and Marshall Jepson placed 4th in Automotive
  • AJ Cassar earned 4th place spot for Cabinetry
  • Grade 7 student Hallie Thom placed 5th in Gravity Car

Congratulations to all the students who participated and represented our district, and we can’t wait to cheer on Dustin and Finn, who are advancing to provincials!
