May Day Celebration at James Thomson Elementary
Students, staff, families, and community members gathered at James Thomson Elementary today to celebrate one of the school’s most cherished traditions: May Day. This is a day the entire school community looks forward to all year, filled with school spirit, teamwork, and fun as everyone celebrates the arrival of spring!
The celebration began with the annual parade, speeches, and traditional dances, including the Maypole dance performed by Grade 2/3 students and the Friendship Dance performed by kindergarten students. Afterward, students played a variety of games such as the ice cream relay, ski race, obstacle course, sponge relay, parachute games, and chicken tag.
The afternoon was full of more friendly competition, including a shoe toss, bridge building, water games, and several rounds of tug of war.
A big thank you to everyone involved for the planning, preparation, and energy that made this another memorable celebration for the James Thomson school community!
