Grade 7 Camps Kick Off at the OLC!

Yesterday marked the start of the annual Grade 7 overnight camps at the Outdoor Learning Centre! These camps celebrate students’ hard work in elementary school and mark their exciting transition to secondary. This year’s theme, “The Great Escape”, encourages students to reflect on who they are and what they’ll take forward with them. It’s also a chance for students from across the district to meet, connect, and build friendships before heading to Brooks Secondary together.
Camps are packed with fun and engaging activities! Students rotate through three main stations:
- Canoeing - for fun, teamwork, and trying something new
- Low ropes - to build communication and trust with one another
- Shelter building - to spark creativity and collaboration
They also get the chance to join in “choice blocks,” led by camp staff sharing their passions like rock climbing, swimming, nature games, fire-making, and more. The evenings bring everyone together for a shared meal, a camp-wide game of predator and prey tag, and a classic campfire filled with music, games, jokes, riddles, and meaningful conversations.
A big thank you to the incredible OLC staff and qSD teachers who make these memorable experiences possible for our Grade 7 students!
