Be an Ally & Wear Pink on February 26th!

As you search your closet for a pink shirt to wear to school this Wednesday, take a moment to reflect on the reason behind it. Pink Shirt Day is about more than just the colour - it’s a symbol of allyship and support for those who have experienced bullying and discrimination for being themselves or loving who they love.
Pink Shirt Day began in 2007 in Nova Scotia when two older students, Travis Price and David Shepherd, bought and distributed pink shirts to their classmates after Chuck McNeill, a Grade 9 student, was bullied for wearing one. Their kind gesture transformed the school’s culture and quickly spread worldwide to be recognized as an official day that stands against bullying, homophobia, and transphobia - now brought to life annually in over 25 countries.
Showing up to school in your pink shirt on February 26th sends a signal that you believe in the importance of fostering a safe and inclusive environment for every student and staff member within your own school community. It’s a statement that kindness, inclusion, and respect matter.
