Celebrating Francophone Week (March 9-13)
French Immersion students at James Thomson Elementary and Brooks Secondary recently celebrated Francophone Week (March 9-13)! The week provided an opportunity to recognize and appreciate the French language and the many cultures that make up the Francophone world. It also gave students a chance to celebrate the language they learn and use every day!
Throughout this past week, classes at James Thomson participated in activities highlighting traditions from French-speaking communities, including Québec and other parts of the world, while exploring French culture through music, stories, games, and food. Additionally, students visited the Patricia Theatre to watch French films, took part in a whole-school Francophone lunch, and wrapped up the week with an improv competition.
Over at Brooks, a group of French Immersion students travelled to Comox to participate in a workshop and performance with poetry slam artist Elemo.

Thank you to qSD’s French Immersion teachers for helping bring the French language to life for students, not only during Francophone Week, but throughout the year. Merci beaucoup!
