Brooks Secondary Culinary Arts Student Finn Gow-Hignell Wins Gold at the Provincial Culinary Arts Championships
Congratulations to Brooks Secondary Culinary Arts student Finn Gow-Hignell for bringing home Gold at the Provincial Culinary Arts Championships in Abbotsford last week, where he competed against eight regional winners from across British Columbia.
Throughout the competition, judges praised his strong commitment to organization, food safety, and his calm, composed demeanour under pressure.
Connor Knickerbocker, chef and Culinary Arts teacher at Brooks Secondary, shared:
“Perhaps the greatest compliment was when a judge brought up Escoffier (known for developing the language and practice around the five ‘mother sauces’ and for revolutionizing modern French cuisine). The judge said that Finn’s mushroom demi-glace reduction would have received the stamp of approval from the legendary chef himself.”
Well done, Finn, and thank you to all the teachers and staff involved for their ongoing support. We're excited to cheer him on as he heads to Nationals in Toronto!
