Student BC Youth Parliament members learn about, and experience firsthand the parliamentary process, debate topics of interest, and plan numerous activities for the upcoming year. After Session, members put these activities and projects into action.

CampOUT! is a leadership and learning summer camp for queer, trans, Two-Spirit, questioning, and allied youth ages 14-21 from across BC & the Yukon. The camp is held at Camp Fircom on Gambier Island, on unceded Coast Salish territories. In affiliation with the University of British Columbia, the camp provides opportunities for youth to develop leadership skills, build self-esteem, foster hope and resilience, and connect with resources to support health and well-being (physical, mental, social, sexual, educational, and spiritual).

Ever wanted to do an exchange to another country? The Canadian Education Exchange Foundation organizes three month educational exchange programs for students through partnerships with governments and private agencies in many countries. Students visit another country for three months and then host their exchange partner in Powell River for three months. All exchanges must be approved by SD 47 and the school principal.

Students aged 15-19 years old gather in Ottawa to learn about government processes, meet decision-makers like MPs and Senators and discuss important issues with other young leaders from across the country.

Headed to your first year of university in September? Interested in the parliamentary program? Each year, 40 bilingual students from across Canada are chosen to come live the action on Parliament Hill in Ottawa by assisting Member of Parliament and other House Officials with their work in the House of Commons. The Minerva Foundation's Learning to Lead program is an exceptional all-expenses paid opportunity for Grade 11 female students to meet and interact with graduate students, young professional women and accomplished community leaders for a weekend of inspiring speakers and workshops. Students wishing to apply for this opportunity must be nominated by their school principal.

This summer program takes place at Pearson College on Vancouver Island. Students (ages 15-18) who are interested in leadership, social-change issues and sustainability are encouraged to participate. Some partial bursaries are available to students with financial need (Cost: $2825)

Each year, top-performing Grades 10, 11 and 12 students, compete for a place in the month-long program, which is focused on STEM (science, technology, engineering & math) disciplines. More than 600 students are accepted annually to participate and live in-residence on one of our host university campuses across Canada during the July program.

The YMCA Summer Work Student Exchange is a national exchange program that brings together youth from various communities across the country. Participating youth, aged 16 and 17, have the opportunity to improve their second official language skills, and gain important employment experience through a work placement while on their exchange.

U of T offers exciting summer programs to current Grade 10, 11, or 12 students who would like to explore the world of law or medicine. In addition to the enriching academic content, students get a taste of university residence life while staying on campus and participating in events that showcase the city of Toronto.
